Motivated Enough?

I got into work today, and realized I forgot my towel when I packed my bag.  It was looking like I was going to let that put the kibosh on my run.  Sure, the blister I got Monday night was nasty, and still hurts.  (Oh yeah, it was a blister 10 minutes into walking on the treadmill.  After the next 20 minutes it was raw meat and nerve endings.)  But, that was due to walking, I should run.  It's all different angles.  Then I saw Craig Harper's post today, didn't even read it.

After my meeting, it was pouring rain.  I drove over to the Fred Meyer and bought a towel.  I changed into my running gear and the rain had stopped.  I had some sunshine and blue skies, for a bit, half-way through the run.  Didn't notice my heel, except when I slowed to walk.  That meant I had to run all the way through.  Easy-peasy.

Tuesday, I'm adding some distance.  (And it helped I weighed in and used the body-fat meter, last night, after a month.  I'm down six pounds of fat, and lean muscle is the same.)

The shoes aren't that old.  And I haven't had a hitch of a problem with them, except for the walking on the treadmill, and doing some lunges in them a couple weeks before the walking.  I remember reading in Fitness or Fitness Walking for Dummies (or even Road Runner Sports's site) that the running and walking shoes are constructed differently.  (The running shoes are Brooks Dyads, BTW.)  I picked up some cheap Reebok "Training" shoes, and definitely feel a difference in the heel area.  The Reeboks are cushier in the heel, with more padding all the way around.  The Brooks not so much.  I'd definitely rather run in the Brooks, though.

This is the first time I've come to this portion of the site. Why would you get a blister from walking vs running? I've never heard of that. What brand of shoes are you using and how old are they? As far as the forgotten towel, I've done that a few times and had to dry off with the paper towels from the dispenser near the sinks (LOL).
