I have 5 more weeks before leaving for Mount Rainier. For the last 2-3 weeks I have cut back on my usual cardio workouts and have been concentrating on my legs and carrying 60 lbs in my pack. I used to burn 1100-1200 calories in a workout but am only doing about half tha now. So I have gained 2 lbs. I don't know if it's muscle, or fat. I certainly don't want to carry an additional few pounds of fat up the mountain.
